Our hands define us as human. They gave us the ability to create the world we live in, to make change, to affect the world. Do we still have that agency in how we live?The hands are drawn, cut in detail. They are like mountainous lanscapes in miniature - crags, twists, drops and slopes. Then those images are fractured, reassembled to be incoherent. The agency, and the monumentality of what it means to have agency is gone.But the images remain as marks, shapes, colours and patterns. And making those is essentially human.
